John

John Cooper, lead and rhythm guitar for Whiskey Trippers, grew up in the Music City and started playing an instrument because “that’s just what everybody did”. But the real inspiration began at the age of 16 with the culmination of being cut from his high school basketball team and picking up a guitar.

1991 - The Kick Inside Style: Original funk band
Notables: Featured stand-out guitarist, Steve Cherone, who continues to show off his chops with August Christopher.

1992 – Blue Cha Chas Style: REM meets Merle Haggard
Notables: Featured singer/songwriter, Ned Hill, currently of Ned Van Go.
Highlights: Opening shows for the Kentucky Headhunters, Cactus Brothers, Foster and Lloyd, Government Cheese and comedian Pauly Shore.

1994 to 1999 – Music Industry Notables: Interned at Milsap-Galbraith Publishing, worked for Trifecta Entertainment, worked for Capitol Records.
Highlights: Enjoyed being on “the other side” of music.

2000 – Soze Style: Jazzy, upbeat jam style and catchy harmonies
Highlights: The music scene in Pittsburgh! Hear the music here.

2003 – Billie Joyce Style: Bluesy roots rock
Notables: Three week tour with Billie Joyce, in Europe.
Highlights: While in Holland, teaming up with BJ Baartman for half the tour – a brilliant player that took time out from his band, BJ's Pawnshop, to back Billie Joyce. And, of course, the opportunity to play with Billie Joyce!

June 9, 2007 – George Ducas Style: Rockabilly meets traditional country;
Highlights: The opportunity to travel to Genevieve, Switzerland and play with George Ducas while having Shania Twain as the honorary patron for the ball!
