Pound Lamb - Lead Vocals and Acoustic Guitar
Raised in small town Georgia, Pound's musical influences ranged from southern rock and blues to country and 70's pop. He always had an affinity, and respect for the artists who wrote their own material. “As long as I can remember I've always had melodies in my head,” mentions Pound.
Although he officially started writing music in high school, Pound took a hiatus for a few years to play football at Auburn University. After graduation his desire to write brought him to Nashville where he was signed by MCA Music Group, and later Warner Chappell, as a staff writer. Highlighting his success; a variety of artists have recorded his music and he has had the honor of playing with the likes of Garth Brooks, John Kay (Steppenwolf), Paul Overstreet, Raul Malo (Mavericks), Vanessa Williams, Joe Nichols and Michael Peterson, just to name a few.
In the summer of 1993 Pound was introduced to guitarist, Keith Gibson, through a mutual friend. With similar interests in music, the two teamed up to perform at popular songwriters venues like the Bluebird Cafe. More than a decade later, the two continue their friendship and their love for music, joining forces again in 2003 to form the Whiskey Trippers.
Pound says, “It's great to be working with such a fine group of musicians. Best of all, I've known most of these guys for years and they're great people too. Each one adds something unique to the songs and the sound.”
